I don’t understand people who get mad about Valentine’s Day

• If you’re in a relationship, it’s an opportunity to buy someone you like cool presents and get cool presents
• If you’re not, you buy yourself something cool and talk to yourself and anyone who will listen about how cute, sweet and great you are. Be in love with yourself this Valentine’s
• If you don’t like the holiday, just don’t pay attention to it! it’s that easy folks

These are all excellent points. I think people’s main gripe with it, over other holidays is that, for those who would really love to be in a relationship, it’s an unpleasant reminder that they’re on their own, and may have been for some time. 

I like that old fashioned and often forgotten notion of Valentine’s Day, that it’s a day for confessing your love for someone who doesn’t know it yet. It’s a bit school-kid like but I find it rather sweet. 

All of these sentiments. I adore Valentine’s Day, always have.
